Cisco's long-time commitment to ongoing research and development (R&D) is the basis for it's innovation. In fiscal 2007, it invested more than $4.5 billion in R&D. More importantly, the investments made three to five years ago are the foundation for the growth Cisco experienced this fiscal year. Unified communications advanced technology, formerly enterprise IP communications, has positioned Cisco as the market share leader in the enterprise voice marketplace. Storage, another advanced technology, experienced revenue growth of approximately 50 percent on a year-over-year basis. Equally, Security and Wireless/Mobility are other key development areas that enjoy continuing significant R&D investment.
